Hi Lexi, can you introduce yourself to our readers?
Howdy! Thanks for having me. RedMilk is hands down one of my favorite publications, so it truly is an honor. My name is Lexi, I’m 20 years old, and I’m the face behind Nashville’s dream pop solo project, Love You Later. The project was born early 2017 and it’s been a wild ride ever since. I just released my newest single ‘Harder On Myself’ which is my favorite song I’ve written thus far – give it a listen!
Love You Later. Such a pretty, romantic name. Where does it come from?
So, I really wish I had a better or more complex answer for this, haha. Ultimately, I wanted my project to be based around love, relationships, and romanticizing life and I really was into the way “Love You Later” rolled off the tongue. I think it’s more intriguing that the name leaves a sort of open end so listeners can interpret it in their own way.
How would you describe your music in 3 words to someone that does not know you?
Dreamy, delicate, and transparent.
Do you have a ritual before going on stage?
I don’t think I’ve ever told anyone this before but I guess there’s a first time for everything. So, I usually drink a ton of water before I go on stage. Then, I like to jump and run around to get all my jitters out which 9/10 times results in me having to use the restroom, so I frantically run to the toilet. It happens almost every time without fail, haha.
How does your 2019 look like?
I have a lot of things I’m working towards for this year but I’d say touring is a big one. I would really love to get on a big tour this summer or fall as an opener. It’s been a dream of mine forever to open for some of my inspirations and I’m hopeful 2019 is the year!
Memories from SXSW where we met.
SXSW 2019 was incredible! This year was my second year, so I feel like I was more familiar with the waters this time around which made it so much more enjoyable. We played 5 really awesome shows and also saw and discovered so many cool new artists that I’m really excited about. I also got to meet a few artists I already had my eyes on which was very fun. My feet were bleeding by the end because of all the walking but it was definitely worth it. Very little sleep, lots of driving, lots of fast food, lots of good music, good people, and countless memories. Can’t wait for next year!
