Ciao Naomi, can you do a short introduction of yourself for our readers?
Hi! My name is Naomi Wild and i’m an indie artist born and raised in LA. I like making music that is daring, unexpected, and makes you feel nostalgic.
Is this you real or stage name?
About Naomi: as a kid i didn’t have many friends but a really colorful imagination. I had an infatuation with the idea of fairies and an alternate reality where i’d build houses for them (the fairies) and write them letters, specifically to one i named Naomi. My dad was all about it and would help me write the letters to her and later i realized it was him writing me back as her. He’d put “fairy dust” in the backyard to let me know they were there. Wild: i had a hard time learning to read and was really down about it. my dad used to tell me i was Max from the book Where The Wild Things Are, which was the book we read every night until i could read it myself. And if i could describe myself in one word it would be “wild”.
3 words to describe your music.
Your ritual (if you have one) before going on stage.
Slam a footlong tuna from Subway… hahahha just kidding (sort of). I’m not classically trained by any means but now work with a vocal coach who gave me some warm ups and manuka honey? I guess we’ll see how that goes hahaha. i pace a lot i get a ton of adrenaline before shows and can’t sit down. lots of water. some time to myself and some jumping in place.
Goals for 2019.
Exceed my own expectations
We met in Austin for SXSW. How was your edition?
Not as expected, some technical issues but definitely a true test of my patience and still a lot of fun. Met some awesome people and laughed a lot. Happy we did it!
