"WHEN I WAS A CHILD, I ALWAYS WANTED TO BECOME A PILOT OR AN ENGINEER." DISCOVER MORE ABOUT THIS SPECIAL LOVER OF COLLAGE.
What job did you want to do as a child?
When I was a child, I always wanted to become a pilot or an engineer. But those dreams felt a little too big for me, so I ended up being a designer instead.
When and why did you decide to dedicate yourself to sci-fi and digital?
My interest has always leaned towards sci-fi/mystery films since I was young and it was from those films, I discovered a lot of things pertaining to aliens and robots. During my years in Uni, I learned a lot about the elements of design and have always strived to be better – to push myself to design beyond just sci-fi and digital. I wanted to explore and do more than that. So, I experimented a lot and learned new skills. But of course, I’d still try to maintain my design style as much as I could.
Where do you usually get inspiration from?
Mostly from people I follow on social media; Instagram, Pinterest and Behance. Also by watching tons of sci-fi and superhero films.
What makes you happy?
I’d like to think I’m happiest every time I finish my 3D design work. It gives me satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment – proud to be putting my work out there. Apart from that, I love playing football and watching movies with my friends. And definitely spending time with my family.
Do you work alone or with someone?
Most of the 3D work on my Instagram is done by me. But usually when I get offered big projects, I’d collaborate with someone I know. I also currently work as a motion graphic designer at Lokalab, a production house based in Malaysia.
What do you want to tell us about the next project?
I still don’t have anything planned at the moment, but I’d really want to showcase my work through videos and also work with well-known artists. For example : MV, ,short films and etc
Your strongest point.
As cliché as this sounds, you gotta always be confident when doing something. And just move forward. Just. Do. Something!
If you could know a person, living or dead, who would it be?
I’d want to meet and get to know my all-time fav idol, Mike Winkelmann aka beeple_crap. I’ve always admired his work and his dgaf attitude. And he’s continuously doing artwork on the daily, without fail. Plus, his work flow’s pretty and epic too.
Your next goal?
My next goal would be working on/producing a music video. And also my ultimate dream is to work with The Weeked!
Your most beautiful memory until now.
I don’t have any in particular, cause all of them are beautiful.
What do you do after this interview?
Enjoy the rest of my time in Bangkok and get my lazy ass back to work! But gotta always remind myself to get good result. Hopefully you guys have a great time doing your passion work too!
