Persevering, dreamy, perfectionist.
You are half Japanese and half Swiss, these two different cultures influence your personality?
I would rather say a mix of the two cultures influence my personality.
Why do you love photography?
Difficult to say, maybe I would say I love photography because it’s a way for me to express my feelings and to release what I keep deep within myself.
Your works usually have references from Japan, how much is this relevant for you?
My previous project was closely related to Japan. I wanted to recreate my own Japan in Switzerland.
Your photos suggest a strange form of melancholy and romanticism, how do you create that?
I guess, being a person who like to dream but speaking about war memories and more specifically about the war memories of my family involved probably a sort of romanticism and melancholy in my work.
Describe in one word the relationship with yourself
If you were a superhero, which you would be?
I would like to be a superhero who don’t know he’s a superhero.
Your favorite historical period.
Because of my childhood probably the Middle Age.
Which project are you working on?
I’m working on my new long term project called « Le son des vagues noires » (The sound of the black waves) which is a mix between manga, painting and photography, stories about my family, the ocean, fictions,…
What are your plans for this new year?
With Kodoji Press we will release a book.
