"I HAVE ALWAYS PURSUED MY DESIRE TO PLAY, IMPROVISE AND EXPRESS MY COMBOS OF THOUGHT VIA ART". READ MORE ABOUT THIS SPECIAL ARTIST.
What job did you want to do as a child?
Artist. I have always pursued my desire to play, improvise and express my combos of thought via art. I never get bored with the idea of creating new links between unexplored disciplines.
Last year I went to visit my grandmother in Argentina and I found the beautiful surprise that she had kept all my drawings and writings from when I was little. As a child I have always taken the artistic expression as a free game, and nowadays I am motivated by the idea of bothering with my ideas. Something you hate or something you love too much, but I’m scared of the idea of staying in the middle. I think Bansky said something like that: “art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable”. For me, work is a synonym for playing, improvising. Every game has rules, even so free play. The fun is to create the rules.
Where do you usually get inspiration from?
I read a lot. I like to read several books at the same time, in this way I find unexpected links between books. I’m not one of those who start something and finish it. I’m more than pecking at several sources of information at the same time. I like to be inspired by disciplines far removed from what I am working on. This way I can link unexpected information to create a new concept. I love theater and scenography. I’m always diggin in theater plays.
Do you work alone or with someone?
I work alone. But sometimes I need help to develop some ideas.
Your strongest point.
My sense of free play, I think. It never ceases to amaze me to find something in my mind that I do not know where it came from.
If you could know a person, living or dead, who would it be?
Your most beautiful memory until now.
Call my attention enough, this is the last question I answered. I remember slightly, one winter morning, with my father and my brother building a house for our dog. Sheltered with hat and gloves, armed with hammer and nails. Around a pile of wooden boards. There was sun. A beautiful morning.
The difference between real and virtual. Which do you prefer?
I like when virtual is used as a tool to elevate the real spectrum. To explore and experiment with different materials and physics. I have been using 3D digital tools as a medium for more than 10 years. Its natural for me to think in volume, in space, rather than flat design. I think theres something beautiful and interesting in the edge where virtual and real blends. I prefer that cocktails.
What is digital?
Digital is only a medium between the artist and the piece. As a painter he uses his brush and his canvas. Different brushes will leave different imprints. As well as different digital mediums will take you to varied results. It always struck me that the word “Digital” in French is numérique. The numerical makes everything numerable and comparable.
What about your next trip in Italy?
I will be visiting Milan for 2 weeks. I like to work while traveling and visiting cities. In this way I remain permeable in real time, of all the information and experiences that I absorb.
