How the flowers changed your life?
They’ve allowed me to be my own boss and to surround myself with the best team. They’ve also made it smell better.
Do you prefer roses, peonies or tulips?
Peonies. They are my muses and the most photogenic. Ask me another day, and I’ll say roses. The next day, tulips.
If you were not a floral designer, what kind of job would you do?
I would be a director of 15 second lo-fi dance videos, a photographer of colorful scenes, a writer, a paper folder.
Where do you get inspiration from?
Inspiration is everywhere for me. If I’m not feeling stressed out, and my mind is free, I have so many ideas. I see so much potential just walking to the subway. Getting out of bed, there are so many stories to tell.
Your typical day.
There is no typical day, really, other than long. I’m up early and work til late. In between, I’m all over the city, to meetings, to market, to the studio, to site visits, to installations, to shoots, to rental places. Sometimes I’m alone and sometimes I’m leading a group of designers.
Could you live without social media?
Yes! But could they live without me??? Actually, I am very grateful to social media for the exposure it’s given me. I owe my business to it.
Your fault and your value.
I’m never serious and I’m very serious.
What color do you prefer?
I love all colors. There’s a time and place for it all. I like them alone or together, on repeat, and filled to the brim.
What about fashion? Do you have a fav designer?
I love Iris van Herpen. And Delpozo. I used to love dressing up. It’s been tough since I started my business and working in a very labor intensive, physical field. I have to dress more utilitarian. I look forward to a slower pace where I can have a little more fun with attire.
