HE WORKS WITH DAZED BEAUTY, NIKE, IRIS VAN HERPEN, THE HORRORS (UNIVERSAL MUSIC), WIRED MAGAZINE, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN AND MUCH MORE! DISCOVER THE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE ARTIST!
What job did you want to do as a child?
Undertaker / pilot.
When did you start to dedicate yourself to art?
When I was given one of the first digital cameras by my uncle and instantly became obsessed with it.
Where do you usually get inspiration from?
Nature, natural history museums, body horror, prosthetics, Irving Penn, Ernst Haeckel, car scrapyards, Dutch still life paintings, Boston Dynamics, cabinets of curiosities.
What makes you happy?
My partner and the 5% of a project where it comes together and makes sense.
Are your works for sale? What was your first customer?
I do a mixture of commercial and self lead work – some advertising, some purely self initiated art projects.
What do you want to tell us about the next project?
I have been working on a book for the last year and still need to find some time to finish it but I am especially excited about seeing my work in a physical output. I work digitally so I am used to seeing my work compressed and tiny on a phone screen as the end result most of the time. Spending longer to create something that can express detail and tone in a more luxurious format is exciting to me.
How do you create your video?
A lot of trial and error. Usually it is the ‘error’ in the process that leads somewhere interesting or sparks a new idea.
If you could know a person, living or dead, who would it be?
Hans Ruedi Giger.
