REDMILK LOVES OUT OF THE BOX MINDS! DISCOVER THE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MARK INDELICATO.
Who and how did you want to work in the entertainment industry?
My grandmother has always been a huge inspiration to me in both my personal and professional life. She was an avid lover of the performing arts and encouraged me from a very young age—probably around 6 or 7—to act and perform. It was essentially from there that my career as an actor took off.
Is there a place where you feel comfortable and what makes it special?
New York City has always made me feel like I belong precisely because all of my best friends live here. The iconic energy of the city in conjunction with the creativity and support of my friends has allowed me to live boldly and truthfully and be my full, authentic self.
Is there a theme or a cause you are passionate about?
I’m particularly concerned with the state of political discourse in the United States and the ways in which that discourse shapes the ways in which we identify ourselves and others. Like many millennials that are committed to fostering a future that is more inclusive, I’m particularly passionate about creating a more intersectional political discourse; a discourse that digs deep below the surface of “politics as usual” and takes the complexities race, gender, sexuality, religion and national origin seriously when drafting and implementing legislation.
When you have a bad day and you’re not sure what to wear, what do you wear to feel comfortable and powerful?
It’s amazing what your favorite pair of heels and some black eyeshadow can do for the ego.
What is your morning ritual that keeps you sane?
I’m a compulsive list maker, so every morning when I wake up I make a list of goals for the day. I also read somewhere that making your bed every morning yields more organization in one’s life, so I do that too. I can’t tell if it’s working or not though.
From the four elements earth, fire, water and air to which do you feel most related? And why?
Like water, I can be calm and serene on a good day, but erratic moody and unpredictable on a bad day. I’m also a Cancer so water is kind of my thing.
