REDMILK LOVES OUT OF THE BOX MINDS! DISCOVER THE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH FRANCO SCHICKE.
Who and how did you want to work in the entertainment industry?
It kind of happened without me wanting it. I always liked fashion photographers like Inez and Vinoodh, who combine fashion and art through their images. They are a huge inspiration to me, because they are also super professional and caring with who they work with. I did photography as an extracurricular thing in high school and it organically transformed itself into fashion photography, even though i’m not a huge fashion person. I’m a human’s person. I like portraying people, and if they happen to wear cool clothes, thats cool too.
Is there a place where you feel comfortable and what makes it special?
I really don’t know. I thought NYC was it, but I don’t like settling down anywhere. I don’t like commitment in that way. It gives me anxiety to plan my future, so whenever someone asks me where do I see myself in the future, I really don’t know. I hope is somewhere were I can be happy, surrounded by my friends, family, and my baby Freud (my bff, the pug). I don’t know why I have this idea of, someday, retiring and having a farm full of baby goats somewhere in east Europe.
Is there a theme or a cause you are passionate about?
Right now, that would be my mental health and my wellness. I’m learning that being selfish is not a bad thing, Especially when it comes to mental health, taking breaks, taking care of yourself. I learned, the hard way, that If i’m not okay and In a good position with myself, everything else will fall apart.
When you have a bad day what do you wear to feel comfortable and powerful?
Any cute shirt, or a long black tee. I sometimes find it hard to feel comfortable in my clothes since I have had BDD since I was very young, so some days is a struggle. I feel like baggy clothes protect me.
What is your morning ritual that keeps you sane?
I try to meditate in the morning, but I’ve been so anxious lately. I also used to do Yoga and that helped a lot with both my body and mind. I should try that again. Also, coffee. Black.
From the four elements earth, fire, water and air to which you feel most related? And why?
Water, definitely. I don’t know why, I feel I was a mermaid in some other life. Water always made me feel like I could fly, diving deep in the sea is like flying.
