GRAPHIC DESIGNER & ART DIRECTOR: DISCOVER OUR INTERVIEW WITH A SPECIAL FRENCH ARTIST.
Hi Emir, would you tell us something special about you?
I am Emir Shiro a French artist and graphic designer.
Your art is full of irony: from where do you take it?
My inspiration comes from the world which surrounds me. I don’t focus on a single source. Current events, fashion and body are all subjects which I exploit most.
Tell me about the creative process behind your works.
Everything starts from an idea which I try to illustrate with a photographic assemblage. It can also happen that an image gives birth to an idea. Collage is a visual experiment and is the technique that I experiment the most.
The human body, especially female + erotic, is recurrent in your works. Why?
The “body” has always been a subject I liked to treat. The collage came to me when a famous social network has removed my erotic artwork account from the platform. With this technique I can stay on the web without being censored; Internet was like my first art gallery.
What is your favorite collage and why?
My favorite collage is “Feline” because it defined my graphic style in the world of collage. It is minimalist and sensual, two aspects that can describe a part of my artistic work.
Can you tell us about your daily work and free routine?
Being totally independent: my days are marked by various contracts and I work on my artistic production during the early evening.
An artist you would like to collaborate with…
I would like to work with Kaws and Takashi Murakami or with textile designers as Jeremy Scott or Virgil Abloh, it would really be a dream. Today with Internet everything is possible, I have already made some collaborations with international brands.
If you had to create something for RedMilk, what would it be?
It could be a collage around a brick of milk, a cow or whatever… Maybe if I meet you my ideas will take me to other ways :)
