WE SELECT TWO NEW BRANDS THAT EXPRESS THE DESIRE TO CREATE FROM THE OLD, NEW GARMENTS WITH A TOTAL VINTAGE FEELING.
The importance of vintage is becoming stronger day by day even if today the reality is more oriented to the future. The fashion world, which is all about artistic expression, it is used to search for elements that can be traced back to the past. The fashion industry is proposing continuous changes, season after season, and the constant search for novelty is a necessity to survive in a universe in which originality is the key to success.
We decide to present here a selection of two new brands that express this desire to create the new starting from the old, producing new garments with a total vintage feeling.
@MIA VESPER is a womenswear brand born in New York whose collections are named “vintage revival”. The clothing designed by Mia Humber have a clear modern attitude and cuts but they are all constructed from vintage tapestries. There is a research all around the world and then all the fabrics are treated in order to create something new. Sure enough the brand is all about recycling and reinvention.
@BODE instead of the tapestries, started with the idea of the quilts to create a menswear collection all about memory and story telling. The designer Emily Adams Bode start to collect quilts and plaids at her grandmother’s home in order to create unique clothing. The interesting thing is that every piece of the collection has a specific description of where the fabric is coming from and the year.
