RED HAIR, ECCENTRIC STYLE AND A BIT RETRO: HERE'S AMELIE PICHARD, QUEEN OF FOOTWEAR MADE IN FRANCE. IN THIS INTERVIEW SHE ABOUT HERSELF, ABOUT HER PASSION FOR SHOES AND HER NEW FLAGSHIP STORE OPENED IN PARIS ON 34 RUE DE LAPPE, DEDICATED TO "PICHARD GIRLS”.
How would you summarize your career?
I started in the fashion world and then I fell in love with the shoe.
When did you start to draw shoes?
Just after my shoe training, I win a contest with the brand Bata. Everything starts here.
Shoes are the indispensable accessory to every woman’s closet. When did you realise that shoes would be your future?
What I love in shoes is first the making of them, even if it is a very hard work. Philip Knights, creator of Nike called us “shoe dog”, people who devote their lives to design shoes, who think and speak only of shoes, as if they were an obsession or illness. I’m one of them. Then, of the shoes, I love being glamorous, and they can fit every outfit. Shoes can be simple but never neutral: I hate neutral things. I’m red hair, right ?!
What inspires your creations?
Women. I love them so much and I am fascinated by them. I love contrasts between girls very sophisticated and girls very raw.
Your lines are a bit vintage and never miss a touch of Parisian style. How do your origins affect your collections?
I am more French than Parisian, but I’m american in my heart. Full of contradiction but always very logical, my style is féminine, simple, twisted, sexy, masculine, raw inspired.
If you could travel over time, what time would you choose?
70s and freedom spirit.
Soon, in 34 rue de Lappe, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, will open the first flagship store dedicated to the brand, create with the interior designer Marion Mailaender of Design & Fils and is in a full “Pichard Style”. Why is the need to create a meeting point for the “Pichard Girls”?
Because the “Pichard Girls” have a deep universe and there is a need for a place where these girls can be welcomed. I love being close to my girls!
What are your next goals?
Continue to do only what I want !
