A NIGHT LIKE THIS FESTIVAL IS AN INDEPENDENT MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL TAKING PLACE EVERY SUMMER IN CHIAVERANO, PIEMONTE. NEXT WEEKEND EDITION NO. 6 IS APPROACHING FOR THE SMALL FESTIVAL THAT IS HELD ON THE SHORE OF A LAKE AND EMPHASIS THE BEST NEW TALENTS OF THE CURRENT MUSIC SCENE. FOLLOW US AND DISCOVER THE MUSIC OF TOMORROW STARTING WITH AN INTERVIEW TO ARTIST GRIMM GRIMM: #FUTUREHITSTODAY.
What’s the concept that gave life to your music? And which is your main source of inspiration?
I guess people around me, scenery and thoughts are my inspiration. I also have this weird feelings towards enormously big and tall objects. Such as water towers or huge abandoned buildings or ships. It’s a form of megalophobia, I guess. But instead of fear, when I look to those kind of objects I often feel sad in a deep way: it makes me think about the other creatures in the universe. Its pretty strong and i can’t get rid of it.
Tell us what represents for you the “folk-pop culture”.
I still believe culture kills war. Obviously, I’m not talking just about music, it can be any genre and art format. I’m not too sure about what folk-pop culture actually is, but to me pop music is the ecstatic resonance of a very powerful universal feeling. And when it’s good it’s simple like lending your voice to your personal feelings.
How would you describe your aesthetics and sound to someone who doesn’t know your music?
I always struggle when I have to explain my music to someone, really tough to explain in words. I guess that’s why I still play music.
How’s your typical day when you have a gig?
I try to not drink too much coffee, it really freaks me out. It makes me want to clean entire house. And, since I’m on tour, there is no house to clean.
You are touring Italy this summer. What do you like in our country?
People and food. People are so welcome to an alien like me. And I truly respect all the underground music promoters i met in Italy. I’ve also been eating both arancini and arancine everyday. Love it. It gets pretty heavy after a while but it has been my actual power supply for this pretty hard core tour. And talking about War, I can’t see a end for the one between Palermo and Catania on how to spell arancina/o correctly.
This is The Light Issue: what represent light for you?
That’s my name! Koichi means a light.
