BILL BERNSTEIN IS AN AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHER WHO LIVES AND WORKS IN NEW YORK. IN 2015 HE ENCLOSED HIS WONDERFUL SHOTS IN THE BOOK "DISCO: THE BILL BERNSTEIN PHOTOGRAPHS".
Bernstein’s photographs bring the viewer in the seventies and in the NY cities nights. Bernstein has witnessed firsthand the last days of the nightlife scene, photographing the regulars of Studio 54, Paradise Garage, the Mudd Club, Hurrah and GG’s Barnum Room. With his work, he shows the true face of disco, the music and fashion intertwined in social history and politics of the time. The watchful eye of Bernstein immortalized characters, celebrities or anonymous who lived intensely the night and that have been transformed by the haze of those nights. The photographs capture the essence of true democracy of the dance floor in which anyone could become a star.
On exhibit at the Museum of Sex in New York City until the end of the 2017.
Publication: Disco The Bill Bernstein Photographs, Reel Art Press.
