LFW FALL WINTER 2017-18 – ASHLEY WILLIAMS
Paranoia, Misery, Save The Planet. Through the slogans carved on the hairclips and printed on the sweatshirts of her FW17 collection, it looks like Ashley Williams wants to deliver a message that sounds loud and clear: the world is falling apart and we need to do something about it. But far from wallowing in a gloomy and depressing atmosphere, the collection’s aesthetics is a whirl of vivid colours and contrasting inspirations. Streetwear is mixed with Hawaiian prints and with hats borrowed from the set of an old spaghetti western movie, and the one hitting the catwalk is a modern cowgirl ready for a rave. The combinations are bold and unexpected. Thus, yes to wide-brimmed hats worn over hoodies, checkered pants and skirts in acid colours, 90s tank tops, track pants and oversized sweatshirts, washed out denim, jackets with fringes and Hawaiian motives in black and white. Cascade earrings, rhinestones details and sunglasses with a futuristic twist assure a glam touch.
