FKA twigs HAS A SPECIAL HALLOWEEN IN STORE
Two months ago, FKA twigs posted an enigmatic casting call on her social media accounts. Directed at performers of all genres for a “major” London-based project. At the time, no other details were given, other than a simple additional note stating that “no talent or style would be too extreme”.
Later more has been revealed. The avant-pop icon has announced her own Halloween-themed art exhibition, part of The Veuve Clicquot Widow Series, the show – titled “Rooms” – will feature the performers chosen from the August casting call, which will open in London this week.
The Rooms project it’s the story of Diamas on a journey through the zodiac chart, in search of her spiritual and zodiac home. The story will be told by a cast of 30, within a 12 room installation. FKA twigs is working with incredible artists, set designers, dancers, choreographers, performance artists, actors, costume, hair, make-up and more to bring the story to life.
According to a press release, her show will be an “immersive and tactile” evening in which the audience will be “encouraged on a journey of self-analysis”. It will also include “spiritual exploration”, and will provoke “fear and enlightenment through multiple” mediums.
“There aren’t always opportunities to make your wildest creative ideas a reality”, said twigs in an accompanying statement. “‘Rooms’ is one of my most ambitious projects to date so I’m very excited to be bringing it to life for the Veuve Clicquot Widow Series”.
For those unfamiliar with The Veuve Clicquot Widow Series, the event is marketed as an “annual celebration of creative and cultural prowess”. It’s currently in its second year, with photographer Nick Knight and SHOWstudio taking the role of 2015 curator
of their immersive and haunting event, “A Beautiful Darkness”.
