HELEN DOWNIE – @unskilledworker – The illustrator behind this Instagram account is Helen Downie, an autodidact artist based in London, that thanks to the acclaimed success of her profile has become famous in the fashion system. Discovered by the famous photographer Nick Knight in 2014, the artist realized different collaboration in fashion. The most important has been indeed the portraits collection for SHOWstudio, commissioned by Alexander McQueen. Her creations has also been displayed at the exhibition “Savage Beauty” of McQueen at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
In 2015 she collaborated with Gucci fashion house for a portraits series inspired by the work of the creative director Alessandro Michele. This collection has been the subject of an exhibition at the Minsheng Art Museum in Shanghai. Her illustrations are the result of various influences: the atmospheres have a childlike innocence as in a dream hinting to darker times.
KELLY MARIE BEEMAN – @kellymariebeeman – is an autodidact artist and illustrator based in New York. Her illustrations have a simple composit made of black and white, nude drawings evolving then in illustrations that show a vivid world made of clothing pieces. With compositions made of everyday objects she portrays her characters both in nature or in closed spaces. In her creative research she’s interested in the relationship between fashion and culture, in fact to dress her figures she explores the meaning of trend and the aspect it represent in our society. Her work has been published in many magazines such as: Vogue China, Korea Vogue, Italian Marie Claire, InStyle, Interview Magazine and Numero Tokyo, and her clients include names like: J. W. Anderson, Loewe, Tory Burch, Elie Saab.
