ARLENE GOTTFRIED IS A PHOTOGRAPHER BORN IN BROOKLYN AND GRADUATED AT THE FASHION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY IN NEW YORK
Arlene Gottfried has worked as a photographer in an advertising agency before embarking on a freelance way on the best publications like: New York Times Magazine, Fortune, Life and The Independent of London.
The photographic works of Gottfried were exposed to the world, for example at the Leica Gallery in New York, Tokyo and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington. She has made a number of publications including her latest photographic book this year “Mommie” which has received a great success. The work of the photographer are with intimacy and humor the various cultural figures, addressing several decades and different neighborhoods. It took the Puerto Rican community in Brooklyn, the Lower East Side and Harlem. Her photographs celebrate the uniqueness of the chosen subject, but at the same time reflect on the relationship between communities.
Her portraits are colorful and energetic, the photographer captures the diversity that makes New York so special.
