THE PROVOCATEUR COLLECT HANDWRITTEN LETTERS BY VENERATED LADIES SPEAKING TO WOMANKIND
It has always been the most provocative act of rebellion for a woman to love herself.
Edited by Kristin Prim, (21 years old and already New Yorker’s publishing prodigy), The Provocateur.com hosts a visual archive of original handwritten letters penned by venerated females within the arts, written to fellow women.
Each Monday, a new letter will materialize, filled with insights about life, work, love, and sexuality.
The Provocateur aims to bridge the gap between myth and reality, allowing for counsel and guidance from each individual creative to the reader.
“Don’t dim your light, your power, your talents, your intelligence, your personality, your ideas, your perspective, your vision, your dreams, your desires for anyone. They won’t thank you for it or notice your efforts, and they might even hate you for it. You can’t make another person brighter or happier by making yourself smaller. Take up space, be yourself, engineer your own happiness, design your own life.” – Shirley Manson
“You don’t need a guide. You are the guide.
You don’t need a hero. You are the hero.
You don’t need permission. This is your life.
I write today to tell you that you know the truth, that your life is yours, that you should be bold and afraid, that mistakes will be made, that you will learn, that it will hurt, that someone will love you, that you will laugh… that this life… that this all will pass… that you got this!” – Janet Mock
– Think seriously about what you want out of life and go after it. You can have anything you want, you can make your own opportunities. It might not b easy. But life is not supposed to b easy. The hard work is what makes the achievements great. Without the struggle we wouldn’t appreciate the successes. Be proud of your struggle. Don’t be afraid to work hard. Think creatively about how to maneuver around the things that stand in your way. You can do it. And it’s never too early to start. Go forth and rule the world! – Myla Dalbesio
