You are known on the web like The Colour Queen and your pages tells a lot about this. How are colours representing your soul and art?
For me using colors it’s a way to say something more about my need of balance, control and playfullness in all I do. In that way colors can be used both to define and make things clearer, in nature as well as in daily life, subways maps, signs etc. Colors are for me a playful contrast/break/happening to all that minimalistic perfectionism that appears a lot in Stockholm where i live.
And do you have a favorite one?
No, that changes all the time, right now is coral-orange but the forever favourite colour combos is cyan + yellow and red + pink.
Is Stockholm colorful enough for you? And where does your inspiration come from?
No, it really isn´t, but that makes the rare places easier to find since they really pop out! We have amazing colourful subway stations though. My inspiration to take photos and colour photos could shortly be desciribed like this: a big reason why photographing the things/the way I do, was my reaction as an interior architect to all nordic interior design and the fact that everything looks pretty much the same. I started questioning this idea of beauty and how things that are kitsch or ugly can also be interesting. So it´s a pretty funny situation if you look from it from distance. Myself working with this -more or less- “correct nordic design” as an interior architect, then starting questioning that and looking to investigate another type of aestethics through the camera lens…
As inspiration it’s hard to really say what’s inspiring me, because everything does it in a way: any disciplin or an ugly corner in a backstreet, people, traveling.
Architectur and Photography: what comes first?
Well, I´m really not a professional photographer but for me photography is `easier’; in that way that you can control a scene or do an outtake from whatever is called reality. Space is super complex, it´s everything and a wholeness that has to work togheter as you move and live. For me at this point photography is more playful but I love to switch between visual and space.
How did social networks changed your way to work
It changed everything, both in work and on a personal level as a network, as a way to travel etc; for my job it opened a door to be able to work more multidisciplinary than `just´in architecture and made me go freelancing that is a very great adventure.
Your favorite instagram account (expect yours ;)
;) So many good ones, but probably this one www.instagram.com/inter_disciplinary
A color for Milan.
Oh, I love Milan! I try to go there during the Design Week in April every year I can.
I love to hang out in every backyard and be inspired, especially at Rossana Orlandi´s place and the Fragile gallery space is one of the most inspiring I´ve experienced.
Colour for Milan is Red for sure. And should I choose a second colour it would be blue rain blues-lilacs.
