Dua Lipa is set for big things. Combining an incredible smoky voice, the looks of a young Monica Bellucci (with swag) and infectious songs, Dua really has it all. Looking and sounding every inch the perfect popstar, she appears a total badass yet comes across sweet as pie- a refreshing quality for a much-hyped, burgeoning star. If that wasn’t enough, she gives some pitch-perfect and captivating live performances despite having only just burst onto the scene.
Her music fuses catchy, upbeat pop melodies with hip hop influences and a soulful delivery, while her lyrics are much deeper and darker than your average pop song. It’s no wonder that this 20-year-old is quickly garnering a legion of fans -including the likes of Annie Mac and Maroon 5- even though her debut album is yet to be released, and has just been included in the prestigious BBC Sound of 2016 longlist.
We can also foresee the fashion world falling at her feet in the not-too-distant future (she’s already signed to Next Models), drawn by her edgy style and striking good looks.
Kosovan by heritage but born and raised in London, Dua left home at 15 to live with friends and pursue her music career – which is undoubtedly about to blow up!We caught up with the talented singer-songwriter over WhatsApp to chat about her upcoming video, musical influences and favourite things.
