PIP & POP IS THE PSEUDONYM OF TANYA SCHULTZ, AUSTRALIAN ARTIST WHO MAKES OF SWEETNESS AND IMAGINATION A REAL ART. HER INSTALLATIONS ARE FANTASTIC, ENCHANTED MINIATURE LANDSCAPES INSPIRED BY TRAVELS AND VIDEO GAMES
A glowing magical world where the main material used for the creations is sugar, mixed with sand and colored pigments creating landscapes straight out of a dream. Inside you can find beads, candy, glitter and recycled items. Strike the psychedelic colors that sink us into a fairy childproof world, recreated with bright colors like lemon yellow, shocking pink, orange, blue and many more. The creations are often natural landscapes like hills, mountains, rivers and lakes and also geometric figures as stars triangles and circles. Tanya Schultz loves stories that talks about imaginary worlds, but especially stories of lands made by food; she loves legends that exist in many cultures, an example is the mythological french land of Cockaigne , where the roads are made by every kind of candy and instead of water the rain is made by colored sugar; another example is the big candy rock mountain, everyone’s idea of paradise, or the chocolate factory of Willy Wonka.
