redmilk_candela&rankin_imgWhat is the first thing that you do as soon as you wake up?
Check my emails to see what’s come in over night.

And the one just before going to sleep?
Check my emails to make sure there aren’t any problems I have to deal with.

If I tell you number 9, what comes to mind?
The new issue of Hunger – number 9.

Hunger is a special word in your life right now… what do you feel Hunger for?
Right now, for a day off. I’ve just got back from holiday and am already deep into work… I miss Marrakech.

If you happen to be in a film today, which will be the title?
My life is not interesting enough to make a film about it! I’d rather make films about other people.

Who or what is the last subject you photographed?
Can’t say, it’s a secret.

And the very first one?
The first person I photographed was a documentary shot of a kid by a swimming pool. I’d only picked up a camera for the first time earlier that day.

Feel like telling me something that nobody knows about you and they should?
I’m an open book; there are no secrets about me.

Rankin feels grateful for…
My wife. She has kind of saved me from myself.

And not at all…
Journalists that make shit up.

Three words to describe a perfect shoot day…
Fun, Fun, Fun.

Going through the day creating value, how do you accomplish that?
You have to believe in what you’re doing. Otherwise, what’s the point? But equally, it’s also important to be honest about your work and the areas in which you can improve.

The Interview is at the end… is there any question that I didn’t ask and you wish I had?
Yes, I wish you’d asked me my favourite colour! It’s blue.
