AFTER YEARS OF ANONYMITY TIGER & WOODS FINALLY COME OUT AND PRESENT THEMSELVES TO THE READERS OF REDMILK AT VASTO SIREN FESTIVAL. AND NOT ONLY WITH THEIR NAMES BUT ALSO WITH THEIR FACES: VALERIO DEL PRETE AND MARCO PASSARANI TELL US MORE HERE
Finally revealed the identity of Tiger and Woods. How did your project started?
Marco: We have met in 2006; I produced labels at the time and he was the last one I produced before closing labels. And then we became friends. In 2008 we met because he was one of the participants in the Red Bull Music Academy and I am one of the tutors since 2004; that year, however, i did not work, I just did a lecture and they invited me to stay for a week and that where we started to do things together, exactly in Barcelona. With RBMA we have a strong relationship and we continue to work around the world for festival, base camps, etc.
One thing that catch our attention is your instagram account
Valerio and Marco: (they both laugh) We started to take care about it very recently. Do to the fact that we did not have an image to communicate, it was always bit complex to manage the company, but now that in recent years there has been a different evolution begin to appear too. The issue is that the first album was born as a bootleg in fact (ie a white disk. You do not know whose it is. What you’re not sure where it comes from), we had our own independent career anyway, so this was an extra drive . It was inspired by the course because there was a record that we liked came on the golf channel in NY and had to be a disk of 200 copies that had to die there. Why there was no picture. There was the symbol of the tiger which then had to be a leopard. In short, it was a great success so that there was a second disc that went even better and from there we did play on this anonymity thing. Also because I’ll tell you that all these people who talk all the time they make no sense to be, the music should speak first.
And where is the little animal?
Marco: It’s on stage! But it is one of the last times we carry the tiger because they continue to steal it! We have already lost around ten of them. We spent a fortune to buy all the tigers. But we have a very cool one especially hand made for us in wood that we do not carry around, it stays in our studio.
After Vasto where will you be?
Marco: Tomorrow we are off to Rimini, then we do Barrakud festival in Corfu, then Tokyo and Osaka and the end of September to DC10 in Ibiza. We actually play very little in Italy but for example this Siren Fest is a beautiful reality, a small festival that works well.
New projects upcoming?
Valerio: We are willing to close one last project with the label we usally work with and then start with our own label in collaboration with Running Back in Germany.
A club that you particularly like?
Valerio: Surely was – because it did close in December of last year – Plastic People in London, the quintessential club. Panorana Bar in Berlin. Due in Dallas. Good Room in NY is also very cool.
A city where you feel at home instead
Valerio and Marco: Tokyo (they answer together and laughs). There is no city like that, and it is perfect for what we do.
