Happy Birthday Hyeres!
The fashion and photography festival in Hyères, which runned this year from April 23 to 27, celebrated a big anniversary: 30 years of creativity, designers, innovation, talents and much more.
Villa Noailles, Art center in Hyères, is since thirty years an avant-garde villa, home of the Noailles’ permanent collections, the International Fashion + Photography Festival, Design Parade, and other cultural events throughout the year.
The festival, one of the most prestigious and oldest, has revealed in the past big names in fashion. The list of winners is long with striking examples like the duo Viktor & Rolf winner in the 1993 edition, followed by Gaspard Yurkievich in 1997, Felipe Oliveira Baptista in 2002, Anthony Vaccarello in 2006 and the Japanese Kenta Matsushige year last.
For three decades, the festival brought to light the best talents in fashion and photography to a new beginning thanks to a high caliber jury.
The special anniversary this year celebrated the triumvirate of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld as artistic director, Virginie Viard (Chanel studio director) as jury chair mode, and Eric Pfrunder (Director of Chanel image) as Chairman of the jury with ten young fashion designers and ten photographers selected from 9 different nationalities were selected.
Dutch designer Wieke Sinnige received a jury’s special mention and an invitation to work on a collaborative project with some of Chanel’s specialty ateliers.
Dutch photographer Sjoerd Knibbeler won the ‘Grand Prize of Photography’, which was judged by Chanel’s image director Eric Pfrunder.
