The upcoming Showtime series follows a 44-year-old father, played by Steve Coogan, as he re-evaluates his job and life after his younger new boss incorporates terms foreign to him (“viral”, “digital” and “social”) in the workplace.
Thom Payne contemplates whether he needs a personal rebranding or if he has a “low joy ceiling”…Maybe pursuing happiness is a fool’s errand? Maybe, after 44 years on this planet, settling for “happyish” is the best one can expect.
The series was created, written and executive produced by Shalom Auslander, with Ken Kwapis exec producing and directing the pilot.
The series was originally set to star Philip Seymour Hoffman before his death last year.
Surprisingly funny, raw and without filters, HAPPYish is a series for “young” old men with identity crisis in the digital era – premiering Sunday April 26 on Showtime.
