Hedi Slimane, l’enfant prodige of fashion with an immense passion for the world of rock, together with the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent, will showcase a retrospective exhibition of his photography.
The exhibition, entitled “Sonic”, will present fifteen years of photographs by the creative director of Saint Laurent. Splendid images, some exhibited for the first time, and most in black and white, in the perfect Slimane style, shot in London, New York and California.
Photographs that become a sort of musical archive; portraits of the most influential rock legends of our times, which are, at times, painful and disenchanted. From Lou Reed to Brian Wilson, from Amy Winehouse to Keith Richards…Icons of music and style from whom Slimane extracted expressions, passions and torments.
Alongside the photographic project a video installation in a documentary style will be featured which will contrast the image of the rock scene in London with that of California, depicting two generations of performers and their fans.
“Sonic” is a look at fifteen years of rock music: the sound track of the attitude and the style of Hedi Slimane. A revolutionary, free spirit and tireless seeker after purity and raw reality, Slimane puts his hands into the soil to rediscover the roots of the reality of style and music.
It’s Only Rock’n Roll (But I Like It).
