PURIST PERFECTION

Jacquemus (jacquemus.com) – France
Nonchalant, cheerful, bright…
Simon Porte loves Marseille, the blue, the white and the 80s. Born in Salon-de-Provence in southeastern France, this 24-year-old designer is an enfant prodige who is gaining consensus within the fashion scene for its sporty yet sophisticated style. At the age of 18 he moved to Paris and after a mere two months attending ESMOD in 2008 he started his own line Jacquemus, named after his mother’s maiden name. Asymmetrical pieces, slouchy proportions, crop tops and oversized t-shirts characterize collections that season after season draw inspiration from different stories. The latest Spring/Summer collection is inspired by La Grande Motte, a seaside resort entirely designed in the 60s by architect Jean Balladur. The oversized garments reflect the homogenized architecture of the buildings and define a cheerful and bright collection.

Sonja Bischur (sonjabischur.com) – Austria
Sculptural, asymmetric, organic…
The search of minimal perfection in the forms and proportions is at the heart of Sonja Bischur’s work. After graduating from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and several years working as a freelance designer, this Austrian-born designer established her namesake jewellery label combining her love for high-end materials with geometric shapes. Created by moulding napa leather, her impactful architectural necklaces resemble fine origami. Tinted in black, white or petroleum, Bischur’s striking and refined creations are pieces of real art.

Niels Peeraer (nielspeeraer.com) – Belgium
Emotional, innocent, genuine…
His mission is to bring an innocent happiness to everyday life. A Belgian designer, after graduating from the Royal Fashion Academy of Antwerp, Niels Peeraer moved to Paris for love and established the eponymous accessories label in 2012. A dreamer and perfectionist, Niels defines, season after season, an aesthetic based on emotions and dreamlike suggestions that aim to surpass the boundaries between masculinity and femininity. His bags and accessories are made out of vegetable tanned leather with extreme attention to details. “White wander no 7, little brushwood” is the name of the Spring/Summer collection: white and sunrise pink characterize shoulder bags, collars or visors with a pure and delicate allure.
