THE MENSWEAR COLLECTIONS FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2015 HAD REFINEMENT IN THEIR SIGHTS, WITH AN ELEGANCE THAT WAS NOT PROCLAIMED BUT, AT THE SAME TIME, FULL OF REMINDERS OF HISTORY AND OF DIFFERENT CULTURES. THEY DETERMINED THE RULES FOR A CONTEMPORARY STYLE WITH SOPHISTICATED, MASCULINE AND RICH FORMS AND VOLUMES
ANTONIO MARRAS: the Sardinian designer paid homage to Gigi Riva and to the Cagliari team. This summer collection mixed and matched sartorial lines with details and materials borrowed from the world of sport. Jogging bottoms that looked like evening wear, sweat shirts that appeared to be jackets, and sweater shirts. While for the suits, Marras chose floral prints spliced with single colours. A tribute to a great sporting man and football player, a symbol of Sardinia and of Sardinian pride.
DOLCE & GABBANA: The Spanish domination of Sicily and bullfighters inspired Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The red of blood and of passion was the dominant colour of this summer collection which presented a man ready to enter the arena with his sumptuous cropped bullfighter jackets, with a sartorial element in the suits and distinctive embroidered trimmings.
MISSONI: Missoni’s man, like a surfer, rode the wave and went in search of cultures that mixed European sensibility and a Middle-Eastern exoticism. Centre stage on the runway was a fresh and nomadic style that is emblematic of the Italian brand.
PRADA: for Spring/Summer 2015 Miuccia Prada played with the codes of urban-wear and reinterpreted them in a chic and contemporary style. Denin was the protagonist of this collection, together with visible stitching and the stitching designs on the pockets, reveres and seams. Hers was a serious man, an elegant man of today, who has abandoned every frivolous detail.
SALVATORE FERRAGAMO: Salvatore Ferragamo’s man was relaxed and sentimental. The fabrics chosen were ultra-light and sketched an elongated silhouette vaguely reminiscent of those of the Forties. The precise lines were based on details taken from sportswear. It was a timeless classical theme, fresh, exact and endowed with an ethereal feel.
VERSACE: the soul of Cuba and the streets of its capital were the inspiration for the man envisioned by Donatella Versace. The summer collection of the brand with the Medusa head was dynamic, colourful and relaxed. Suit jackets worn with t-shirts, and tailored shorts, while picnic bags, holding the maison’s home-wear, were carried. The culmination on the runway was reached when the gods descended from mountOlympus wearing costumes, underwear and a toga that were strictly white.
