Alexander McQueen (alexandermcqueen.com), visionary genius, provocative and innovative designer, is celebrated in London with the exhibition “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty“.
A few days ago the Victoria & Albert Museum (vam.ac.uk) has announced that next year it will host the show that in 2011 obtained a resounding success at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts (metmuseum.org) in New York, becoming one of the ten most visited exhibitions ever.
Lee Alexander McQueen passed away in 2010 and the news shocked the entire fashion world. The void that the British designer has left is immense; “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty” aims to fill this big absence highlighting his talent and visionary ability who continues to be a source of inspiration for many designers. His entire creative career is celebrated through the exhibition of his collections, from the first in 1992 until the fall/winter one in 2010 that he could not finish.
London is the city that saw the birth and growth of the talent of McQueen, in the British capital the designer has designed and built his success. The director of the V & A, Martin Roth, said: “Bring Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at the V & A is like bringing home his work.” London is preparing to welcome all the creative energy of those who, over the years, managed to overturn the codes of fashion, putting into play the values of aesthetics. His inimitable fashion shows, provocative and aggressive made history along with his clothes that has become veritable cultural superstructures. By hosting this exhibition, the V & A revives the British designer who in this city fought against nightmares and fears.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on March 14, 2015 and will remain in program until July 19 of the same year and is ready to repeat the success of New York. Tickets are already on sale, almost a year earlier.
