In the gardens of Villa Noialles in the south of France, the jury chaired by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, proclaimed the winner of the twenty-ninth edition of the Hyères Festival (villanoailles-hyeres.com).
Kenta Matsushige, Japanese designer, received the Grand Prix du Jury Première Vision for his Hinabi womenswear collection, inspired by the architecture of Japanese museums, the peace and the traditions of the countryside.
It must not have been an easy decision for the jury also composed by the director Spike Jonze, the Fashion Director of V Magazine and V Man Jay Massacret and the actress Chloe Sevigny, because every designer has presented mature and well-structured collections, but Kenta was chosen for his work that embodies a sense of longevity, an impeccable attention to details and it is the consistent expression of a sense of modernity.
With this award, Kenta Matsushige receives PREMIERE VISION a scholarship of 15,000 Euros, the opportunity to have visibility at Première Vision in New York and Paris and a collaboration with Petit Bateau. In addition, the Grand Prix du Jury will allow him to work with some of the Métiers d’Art French ateliers, which will fund the development of five looks for a sum of money of 15,000 Euros.
Kenta Matsushige was not the only designer to receive great satisfaction in Hyères. To the French designer Coralie Marabelle and her collection Dream catcher went the Prix Public de la Ville d’Hyeres, while the Prix Chloe was assigned to Liselore Frowijn and Roshi Porkar, who have been able to reinterpret in the best way the look and style of the French maison. The Italian-British photographer Lorenzo Vitturi won the Grand Prix du Jury Photographie.
Carol Lim and Humberto Leon also wanted to reward the Ukrainian designer Yulia Yefimtchuck with a Special Distinction of the Jury/Opening Ceremony Dotation. “We are very pleased to give the Special Distinction of the Jury to Yulia Yefimtchuck because she offers a strong point of view, purity and a sense of strength,” so claimed the Presidents of the jury. Yulia Yefimtchuck will participate for two seasons at the Opening Ceremony.
