What is the first thing you do when you wake up?I drink coffee: like a true Neapolitan. I don’t do anything else. I get out of bed and I dash to the kitchen. I can’t live without coffee; it’s unthinkable for me.
What do you never leave the house without?
My wallet. Ever since I was a child I’ve been terrified of being left alone without any money. It really worries me.
Which food do you think represents you?
It’s strange for a Neapolitan, but I will say to you, Panettone. When Christmas arrives, it’s a tragedy. I could eat it continually.
What do you love about your work?
A bit of all of it. This is a job that you either love, or there are lots of things that can make you hate it. It’s like a love story: you have to love it completely. However, it does also give you immense satisfaction. It’s a passion that takes you over heart and soul.
What do you not love about your work?
Standing out. I don’t like being the centre of attention. I would like my clothes to speak for me.
If you were a mortal sin?
I couldn’t say. I’m certainly a rouè; There are some things I can’t do without, like smoking and sex.
If you were a super hero, what powers would you have?
I’d be Wonder Woman.
Your day starts well if…
My days nearly always start positively. I get up very early; I love the mornings. It’s only when I get to the office that there is a risk my mood might change, even though I don’t easily get angry. I’m quite optimistic.
What is the last thing you bought?
A book about Azzedine Alaia.
If I say the word friendship to you, who is the first person who comes to mind?
As the years go by there are only a few true friends left. Valerio, who I’ve been friends with for twenty-five years, and another friend of mine from Naples called Michele. A lot are acquaintances.
What do you do when you feel really happy?
I sing and dance, also at home and when I’m on my own. I’m really attracted to show business. I should have liked to be an actor.
What do you do when you’re angry?
I close up; I isolate myself, think about something else.
What could you do without?
I’ve done without a car for many years and I still do: I don’t have a driving licence.
On the other hand, what could you not do without?
Cigarettes, coffee and my partner.
What would you never wear?
Lots of things: a fluo colour, clothing with too
many logos visible, a loden coat. I’m highly
critical of myself when I’m dressing; I don’t
want to be ridiculous, never to exaggerate.
I only wear blue, black and grey. I used to be
eccentric, but when I was twenty. Today, I’ve
adopted a sort of uniform. I always buy
the same things.
