What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
I wake up every day at 5.30 because I go to practice Yoga at the Ashtanga School in Via Caldara in Milan, and then I go swimming. This is how I start my day.

What was the last thing you bought?
It’s difficult to say because I’m always buying something; this is my weak point. But, I would say that my last purchase was a coat with gold embroidery from Dolce&Gabbana’s baroque collection.

What was the last film you saw?
“A Place for Lovers” by Vittorio De Sica with Faye Dunaway e Marcello Mastroianni. A sixties style masterpiece.

What would you never let your baby girl (ndr. her dog) be without?
Constant love, every day. It’s as if it’s my soul which has to be nourished every day.

If I tell you “friendship”, who is the first person that you think?
Surely Stefano Gabbana, a friendship that has lasted for twenty years and it’s powered by our common passion that is fashion.

What makes you happy?
Continual experimentation. You should never stop when you are faced with the obvious: what you know how to do. You should always try to go beyond that, in spite of your fears.

Explain your work to a child.
My grandmother thought I was an interior designer; that I furnished houses. I can’t explain my work, as it is now, to anyone, not even to myself because I’ve become completely different to how I was. I would say that I deal with fashion communication.

What are your criteria for choosing the outfit for the fashion week?
There is a huge scientific study! It’s as if I did an editorial on myself every season. I study the entire programme carefully six months ahead.

Ask yourself a question and give the answer.
ADR, which in Italian also means “A domanda risponde” ( answers the question). They are my initials and, oddly enough, they mean something very similar.

Which food represents you?
Raw food.

Anna is never without…
Shoes.

Anna is never with…
There isn’t a never with… anything is possible on me, I could wear anything.

Which icon of style from the past would you have liked to be?
I don’t like going too far back. For me, an icon of style is Carine Roitfeld.

What is the last thing you do before you go to bed?
I log on to the internet for an hour. A review of the papers to get myself up to date on the facts of the day, and a careful look at my blog.

Of your ten rules, which is the one that most represents you?
Rule number 3, the one about “uncomfortable”. Fashion is uncomfortable: this is the most amusing rule I’ve made, because when someone thinks about being comfortable, for example with slippers, they will never achieve the look. You always need to make a bit of effort.
