PAULA CADEMARTORI

DURING A SUNDAY BREAKFAST AT BASTIANELLO'S IN MILAN, CANDELA NOVEMBRE GOT AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW FOR REDMILK WITH PAULA CADEMARTORI. SHE IS CURRENTLY ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLY THOUGHT OF EMERGING TALENTS WHO HAS HAD A BIG IMPACT ON THE FASHION SCENE, PARTICIPATING, WITH HER LINE OF HANDBAGS IN THE COMPETITION WHO IS ON NEXT?

What is the first thing you do in the morning?
I wake up and boil some water to make a cup of tea.

Which food represents you?
Several, but the one that most represents me is brigadeiro, a Brasilian sweet dish made with balls of condensed milk and cocoa which you can mix with pistachio, chocolate or other things, because it’s really soft. I love it; I must say that it is absolutely my favourite sweet food.

Which person has made you the happiest?
My maternal grandmother, because she let me discover the world of fashion when I used to play at her house. She’s my number one.

If you had to write a book about your life, what would the title be?
The great challenge to realize a dream.

What is your idea of travel?
Relaxing, sun, sea, novelty… I love places that manage to arouse my curiosity and make me discover new colours, food and people. I combine relaxing with curiosity, with discovery.

If you want to feel at home when you are travelling, what do you need?
My beauty case, complete with creams, brush, hairdryer and make-up brushes… nothing must be missing.

If your life were a film, who would the director be?
Instinct, that moves you and makes you choose the right shot.

Your leitmotiv?
Enjoy every single moment of your life, because every day is important. You need to be able to enjoy the present.

Explain your work to a child
My work is to imagine how a bag must be: that it is the holder for all the things we have to take with us during the day. And it must be beautiful, quite colourful, different from all other bags. It must also respect certain proportions and transmit the creativity of whoever is behind it: all the fantasy of someone who imagines the object and tries to create it differently from the others.

If you were a song, which one would you be?
Only today, I discovered a song I fell in love with. The title is Sweet Nothing. It’s Calvin Harris, with Florence Welch and the Machine. It’s fantastic because it has a unique beat and music.. I like everything that has a sound that makes you move, that gives you energy.

What frightens you?
I’m a bit afraid of distance. When I stop to think that my family are in Brazil, I realise that I’ve chosen a path that is pretty hard, because they are all there and it’s about sixteen hours by plane.

What would you never wear?
Winter boots with little summer dresses. A lot of people wear them without stockings. No, I would never wear them. This type of shoe with the rest of the look is anti-beauty. Once I would have said white shoes. I don’t actually have any, but I could wear them now.
